The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Express Displeasure About Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a different size category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
They have suggested members to examine their items and manually change the size where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Updates
Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Required Changes
Another shopper, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
